At BMS Plumbing and Mechanical, we specialize in residential re-piping, commercial re-piping, and institutional re-piping projects in Greater Vancouver and across the Lower Mainland.
What is a Re-Piping Project?
Over time, pipes will corrode, rust, develop pinhole leaks, and crack. Worn pipes can lead to problems such as leaks, rust-coloured or off-tasting water, and problems with water pressure.
During the re-piping process, the building’s domestic water pipe systems are replaced. This process is also known as pipe replacement or re-plumbing.
In a pipe replacement project, we begin at the main water shut-off valve and replace all the pipes running overhead or along walls, all the way to the various existing water fixtures in a home or business. This process includes replacing all necessary fittings, valves, and lines, but usually does not include the fixtures.
In every project, we aim to minimize the number of water shut-offs. When water shut-offs are inevitable, we ensure that residents and tenants are fully notified well in advance, that water shut-offs are for short periods of time, and that we always restore full water service by the end of each day.
Maintaining building aesthetics in any project is a high priority for us. Any walls that need to be patched will be done by our professionally-trained drywall crew, with thorough cleanup at the end of each work day, and a final cleanup at the completion of the project. Any walls that are impacted by re-piping will look as good as they did before the work occurred.
After the re-piping is complete, the system will be pressure tested. Copies of the inspection reports from municipal inspectors will be provided to the building owner and our team will also provide a full briefing on the operation of the new system.
